Community Service!!

Today had to skip church, because I was going to do my 1st 6 hours of community service. For your information, my current course requires at least 10 hours of community service in order for me to graduate. So today woke up at 8 - damn tired because I slept at 3+ the night before, doing geometry homework - and got ready and walked to the place called 3K Complex (I forgot what the K's stand for).

Anyway, I was volunteering under Taylor's Circle K Club in this event called "Charity Bazaar" to raise funds for unfortunate kids. Damn nervous because it was my first time volunteering for events like this - don't really know what to expect, even thought of lepak in Pyramid instead on my way. Prayed about it, and proceeded into the realms of unknown.

Reached there, contacted the club's chairperson, and got assigned to some work. First one is to set up the partitions - to separate different types of medical screenings, like putting up something to divide a place into 3, 4 parts. Never got through that 1 because the boards got stuck (don't know how they did it later), and was asked to carry some heavy stuff to the stalls.

Finished that, a Kiwanis Club (Circle K adult version, like Rotary Club) somebody told me - a nobody in comparison - to manage a stall selling drinks. Later found out that his gf was manning the stall, no wonder he was anxious for a helper there. Then sell drinks loh, for nearly 3 hours, easy job la - just sit there, when people come, smile and ask them what they want, or sometimes explain a little bit, then sell, and put the coupons into the box, bla bla bla... Sounds boring? Not to me, because I enjoy seeing stuff got sold - makes me think I'm very talented in business even though I only played a small part (big part was played by people's thirst :)).

Later, ice finish already. So got around find ice - nearly went to a place 15 minutes away to buy ice. Luckily i found Kiwanis Club's hidden cache of ice (As I say, rich people really like to hoard stuff). Saved my breath heh heh.

The selling-drinks-job was not much problem. Just that reaching the drinks which were submerged in the ice was a torment. Hand almost got frostbite - numb and the burning sensation. Nevertheless, my "hon beng zheong" was raised by 10 levels. Cheers!

After about 1 p.m., went to have lunch (free for volunteers!) and walked around visitting. Got booths offering haircut, selling watches, painting faces, and the usual stuff. Met the higher ups - chairman of Kiwanis Club, etc. - what an honour! Then talk some crap (one of my favourite activities) and waited for half an hr for a burger (also free one! Cheers for free stuff!), then walked back... By the way, drank a total of 3 cups of tongkat ali cafe (I feel STRONG heh heh) today- one at breakfast, two during the bazaar (mom'll kill me~)...
