Away from home again
After a short trip to Genting, I'm currently on a trip in Taiping. More specifically my family and I are putting a night in my mom's old friend's place for the night in Sitiawan. I'm having quite a good time here because of the good food. I've had the privilege to taste a type of traditional biscuit here called Kwong Piang (literally translates into "light biscuit"). The small one have pulut and onions as fillings while the larger ones have char siew as fillings. Then we had a really sumptuous seafood feast which consists of black pepper crabs, fried prawns with oats, some shellfish with a tail like chicken claw, some fish, and some vegetables. The freshness of the seafood is simply unrivalled by any of those I've eaten. And I never regretted eating too much even though I suffered some mild "consequences" because of the food. I'm going back to Taiping tomorrow. Taiping used to be a really boring place when I was younger. But now, armed with a book, I'm enjoying the laid-back, slow-paced lifestyle in Taiping which is occasionally spiced up with cheap and good food that people in big cities tried to imitate but failed miserably, not to mention the exorbitant prices.
Anyway, I don't have the convenience or time to blog in depth about the Genting trip and other sundry items for the moment. So stay tuned.
