U.S. Visa

Last Thursday morning. I went to the U.S. Embassy (which looks like an anti-terrorist fortress) to apply for my U.S. tourist visa so that I can find my brother at U.S.

Here's a photo of the Embassy surrounded by thick and tall stone walls and guarded
by strong Indian guards who are paunchy
Here's the Canadian High Commission (equivalent to embassy)
which looks low-security in comparison

My interview time was at 9.40 a.m., and I arrived there just in time, or so I thought. I ended up queueing for more than 40 minutes under the hot sun, deprived of water, to get a batch. After that, another queue which took about 40 minutes again to be admitted into the embassy. The interview schedule was a freaking hoax! No matter what time you scheduled your interview it's the same, you still have to queue for an hour plus (Just don't come after 11a.m. because the counter would be closed by that time)!

After the crazy queue, I had to pass 2 scanners before entering the interviewing hall. I sat there like a freaking idiot waiting for my queue number to appear in the electronic board. I grew suspicious when that didn't happen and inquired a Pakistanian doctor whom I met with during the queue about the procedures, and found out that I actually have to submit my documents in Window 1 or Window 2. I saw that earlier on a video on the television in the hall, but I just ignored it, thinking it was some typo. For God's sake, can't the world's most so-called "civilized" people just post a written instruction of the procedure? Some people can't even see the television.

A while after I did that, I was interviewed by a lady - not pretty, but courteous and patient. The interview only lasted for 2 minutes, consisting some simple questions. Then she gave me a card so that I can collect my visa on the next day. That's when I found this:

Even the U.S. Embassy make such mistakes, so don't be too harsh on the locals when they make some spelling errors.

So the next day I went to collect my visa. Oh my, K.L. is damn hot.

Warning! Global warming!

Sweating like a cow, I finally got my visa.

Mission accomplished!
